    QUANTOFIX® LubriCheck 

    Quick and easy determination of nitrate and nitrite 


    Using this test strip the concentration of cooling lubricants can quickly be determined. The easy dip-and-read-procedure provides a reliable result within 1 minute.
    Cooling lubribants are used when metal parts are being machined (drilling, cutting...). Using QUANTOFIX® LubriCheck the concentration of the cooling lubricant can easily be checked on the spot. This ensures optimal cooling and lubrication and at the same time optimal quality of the workpiece. The measurement with QUANTOFIX® LubriCheck is rapid and reliable and can easily be performed by chemically untrained persons. Other methods used so far either require sensitive instruments (measurement of the refraction index) or have to be performed in the laboratory (determination after digestion).
    The concentration is detected and given as mmol KOH/l. Using a factor the result can easily be transferred to the concentration of the cooling lubricant.

    Creation of the template:

    A simple reading template should be created before routine use. The instructions can of course be adapted.

    • One camera (mobile phone is sufficient)
    • A white sheet of paper. Write the following on the paper: Cooling lubricant, under each strip the corresponding concentration, (see below)
    • 5 beakers, 1 measuring cylinder 100 ml
    • water, concentrate
    • 1 disposable syringe 10 ml (to measure the concentrate)
    • Prepare a beaker at the maximum expected concentration, e.g. nominal concentration = 5% ... 2xCnominal = Cmax 10%.

    Dilute this solution in 4 additional beakers:

    1. Glass: One volume part with Cmax + 3 volume of water = C1
      (50%target concentration, here 2.5 %)
    2. Glass: One volume part with Cmax + 2 volume of water = C2
      (66% nominal concentration, here 3.3%)
    3. Glass: One volume part with Cmax +1 volume of water = C3 (nominal concentration, here 5%)
    4. Glass: 2 volume parts with Cmax +1 volume of water = C4 (133% of nominal concentration, here 6.7%)
    5. Glass: One volume part with Cmax undiluted, here 10%
    • Remove 5 individual sticks and briefly dip each into beaker 1,2,3,4,5
    • on the sheet in the right place!
    • photograph directly on a white background next to each other.

    Shrink-wrap the printed image and hang it on the machine.

    If the alkalinity in the nominal concentration already causes all fields to change over, a sample must be diluted (e.g. 1:1) before the measurement. Of course, this has to be done in the same way when creating the template and during the routine measurement.
